Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official commented the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
