Thousands Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the state, generating wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact
Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

During the peak on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 power users in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
